How does the registration work?
Before taking your first proctored exam, you must register on our platform. To do this, you should access the SMOWL registration link in your virtual campus, where you will be taking the exam.
You can find the registration link in your virtual campus. If the institution requires it, you may be asked to present your identification document.
The location of this link may vary depending on your platform. If in doubt, consult your teaching staff; they will inform you where to find it.
You can check within your course for the SMOWL tool. Below are some of the most common ways to find the registration link.

In MOODLE or OpenLMS, it is most common to find a block similar to this one within your course. If you don't find it, please contact your institution. |

Once you find the registration link, you can start the process.
You can register using any device with a camera: computer, phone or tablet.
Registration process
At Smowltech, we recommend registering at least 72 hours before your first proctored exam.
Registering with SMOWL is easy. You just need to sign up once from your course. It will be valid for all monitored activities in your virtual campus.
Before starting
💡 If you don't register before starting the activity, the process will automatically initiate when you first access the supervised activity.
Before you begin, remember that you must accept the terms and conditions to be monitored by Smowltech. If you have any doubts about them, you can contact your institution.
Depending on your institution, you may also be required to fill in the following information:
First and last name
Email address
Our registration system varies based on the monitoring plan chosen by your institution.
For example, if you're not going to be monitored with a camera during your activities, the step of taking a photograph will not apply to your registration process.
Capture of images
It's important to allow the SMOWL system to access your webcam to capture images.
A set of basic recommendations will guide you on how to position yourself before taking the photograph.
These recommendations should also be taken into account each time you engage in an activity monitored by SMOWL.
Once you are sure that you comply with our recommendations, you should capture a photo of your face, trying to align it with the circle displayed when you click on "Capture".
Important: Once the photograph has been accepted, it will allow you to proceed with the process.
In case there has been a problem with your photos, a warning window will appear and you will have to retake them. After 3 attempts, they will be reviewed manually.
Capture of the identity document
In case your institution requests it, you must also enter your identity document.
You must place it horizontally centered, and click on “Capture”. If you wish, you can delete the photo to recapture it by clicking «Delete».
Important: once the photo is correct, you must click on «Submit» to continue.
Download your monitoring tools
If your institution requires it, you will need to download and install one of our monitoring software (SMOWL CM and/or the browser extension) on your device.
If you haven't downloaded our software during registration, ask your institution where to find the download link for our tool.
Keep in mind
Remember that at Smowltech we are in charge of monitoring but we do not make any decisions. We will provide the evidence to the institution so they can make the decision based on the established protocols.
On the last page of the registration you will find some last recommendations before starting to be monitored by Smowltech.
To complete the registration, click on “Finish”.
Experiencing issues with your registration?
