In this section, we will explain how the integration of SMOWL with your learning environment will be carried out. As established in the timeline, the Smowltech team will have sent you an invitation for a meeting on the specified date. If you have not yet received it, you can schedule it through this link.

It is essential that the platform administrators, who will be responsible for the technical integration and initial configuration of SMOWL, participate in this meeting.

Additionally, it would be beneficial for these administrators to be familiar with the monitoring criteria, which may be established by the academic body, so that we can set up the filters appropriately.

2.1. Initial Integration and Configuration:

We will proceed with the integration of SMOWL into the desired course and/or exams. During the integration, you will be able to choose whether to apply SMOWL in a test environment, a production environment, or both.

You can choose to perform the integration in two ways:

  • You can perform the integration completely autonomously with the downloadable resources and instructions provided in the mySmowltech customer area.

  • If you prefer, you can do the integration live and collaboratively during a meeting, where our team will guide the process step by step.

In the first case, during a post-integration meeting, or in the second case, during the same integration meeting, we can help you implement the desired SMOWL monitoring criteria by default: therefore, for this session, ensure that you align these monitoring criteria internally, which will be established by default.

These criteria can be set globally for the platform or modified for specific activities, either en masse or individually. Below are examples of ideas that help define the aforementioned monitoring criteria:

  • Webcam Monitoring

    • Will my students take a test where the use of notes or headphones is allowed?

  • Computer Monitoring

    • Do I allow my students to have more than one screen connected to their computer?

  • Browser Locking

    • Do I want to expel my students, or do I just want to limit their actions?

2.2. Administrator Training:

During the integration session, we will also proceed to provide general training on the user and administrator flow in SMOWL. This will allow the administrators to thoroughly understand how the tool works, ensuring a smooth and efficient implementation.

2.3. Access to the mySmowltech Customer Area:

We will ensure that all necessary roles, usually IT profiles or project managers, have access to the mySmowltech customer area.

Although many of SMOWL's daily functionalities are managed directly from the LMS, mySmowltech offers access to additional resources and help articles.

These articles can be very useful for internal consultation or communication within the institution, providing ongoing guides and support for managing the proctoring system.

2.4. Communication Channels:

The technical team of your institution will be our main point of contact for any questions related to the configuration of SMOWL.

The usual communication channels will be email, support chat, and videoconferences.

Check the Smowltech Contact Guide here.
